A very marry Christmas

Christmas has come and gone already this year, and we got LOTS of fun wedding related gifts this year! This post is really image heavy, so I'm sorry if you have a slow connection but I'm very excited to share!

First, my cake topper came and it's just so cute I thought I would share: I ordered it from ebay (Ronnie's mom helped me scout it out!) , so I was a little worried that it might break or come in a not so great condition, but I couldn't be happier! It's a little heavy, so I hope that doesn't pose a problem with the cake but I've seen lots of pictures of it on top of cakes so I won't worry about it too much. There is a matching Lenox cake serving set which I'm considering ordering off of ebay as well, but I have plenty of time to worry about that.

In the same Disney theme, here are our super cute personalized gifts from Ronnie's parents! :

Pretty frame, notice our names in the bottom corners? I LOVE this frame and was going to buy it on our last visit, but now I don't have to :D

Mickey and Minnie bobble heads! This is something that you kind of have to see up close in personal, because they have magnets in their noses that make them kiss! They're super cute!Just Married bulb with our wedding date on the back in one of our wedding colors. I love the little hearts, so cute :D Also pictured, my yarn Ronnie got me for Christmas.

My mom and dad got me my something old, something new, something borrowed something blue.
Toasting flutes! They have our names and the date on them but it was really hard to get a picture of it!Garter from my grandmothers wedding day, that she gave to my mom on her wedding day. So pretty! Right before this I was knitting up a garter, which wasn't looking so great so I was soooo happy to receive this! I made a post about the one I was making on my knitting blog. The commitment ring my dad gave my mom! Aww so sweet!

Everything all packed up in my little bride tote and ready to be brought back out on the wedding!

Christmas at Greenfield Village

On Friday the 11th of this month, Ronnie and I went with my parents to see Holiday Nights at Greenfield Village. If you live in the Detroit area I highly recommend getting out in the cold to do this because it is lots of fun! I didn't get a chance to take a lot of pictures of the inside of the houses because it was a lot more busy this year than when we went last year, so Ronnie and I went on Saturday to take some more pictures. Here are a few of my favorites:

There are tons more in my photobucket account here if you are interested in them. Now we need to get out to the Toledo Zoo for Lights before Christmas!

Last night I finished up the majority of our Christmas cards and dropped them in the mailbox. I sent out a little wallet size photo from our engagement shoot with all of our cards. I also won our cake topper on ebay last night:

I really wanted a custom cake topper, but the thought of spending over $100 bucks on something that will probably get packed up and never used again seemed pretty useless. I had originally e-mailed Ronnie's mom to see if she could find us one in Disney World, but she called me last night with the ebay listing that was more than half off the original price! Only one other person ended up bidding at the last minute but in the end I happily won! I think I want a pretty subdued cake color wise, so this topper will look really nice. Plus Mickey and Minnie will fit in with the rest of my Mickey collection after the wedding! Here are some of my cake inspiration pictures:

I think the first one with the cupcakes is my favorite. What do you guys think?

In other news, I have our date held with deux adore for hair and makeup. I'm just waiting for the contract to come in the mail. We're also slowly in the process of checking room rates for hotels in the area of the wedding and seeing about room blocks. Our Save the Date magnets came in the mail and they're super cute. I bought some address labels to spruce up the envelopes but I won't start mailing them out until we have the hotel situation figured out and until sometime after Christmas so they don't get mixed in with all of the card madness. I only ordered 25 of them and now I'm wishing I got more because it seems like everyone wants one! I'll post some pictures once they're mailed out and people have started receiving them!

My maid of honor, my best friend

Thank you for all that you do, for being such a wonderful friend. I honestly don't know where I would be without you, I suppose I can thank The Merv for something!

The world is a vastly better place with Team Sara (H)!!! in it, so thank you for being my friend even if I spill booze on your phone or inadvertently say something about your winter boots. :D I can't wait for next year when we will dominate the photobooth and I <3 you!!!

Breaking out my dress

There was a discussion recently on the wedding community I'm a member of, asking how often us future brides take our wedding dress out of the bag. There were some people who said they left their gowns at the salon to keep themselves from putting it on all the time. I have to admit, when I first brought mine home I put it on quite a few times. I've gotten better about leaving it hanging in the closet, but every time I get something new for the wedding, I like to bring it out and see how everything looks.

Since my necklace came in the mail, I haven't had any time yet to try it on with my dress since Ronnie and I have had all of our days off together, but he's at work tonight so I brought got them both out and tried them on:

Trying it on with the dress has made me wonder, does it look too gold? Also, since it is one long necklace wrapped around multiple times, it is hard to keep it in any kind of order. I was trying it on with some draped in the back and while walking around it would roll back to the front. There is probably a way for me to keep it from doing that, but I'll need to play with it a bit before figuring it out.

I know it's been almost a month since I've updated, but we haven't been doing too much wedding related lately. Since I'm at work today, we had Thanksgiving dinner with my mom and Kevin yesterday night. While I was over there we did a little run through of the guest list. Since we have a pretty good idea of how many people from out of state are coming, I ordered some Save the Date magnets from Magnet Street. I even got to use a discount code that I found on Snippet & Ink. Score! The website was super easy to use, so I'm hoping that I like the magnets when they make it to the apartment. I'll post some pictures of them once I have them mailed out.

We've had a few people ask us where we are registered at, so we started doing that about 2 weeks ago. I think we have most of the basics covered, but we are going to wait to register for bedding and probably china once the date gets closer. The first set of dishware we picked out is already being discontinued.

And so this isn't just a text only post, here are some cake toppers that I think are really cute:

I finished our wedding website!

There are still a few minor things I have to add to it, but our wedding website with all of the official information is all finished. You can see it at: www.makingwebbhistory.com! If anyone in the wedding party would like me to change their picture, please e-mail me a new one (sara at pepitojones.com) and I will do it ASAP.

Of course, I will still use this blog for all of my planning ideas and such (I'm not too fond of the mywedding blog they have available) I just thought the website was a good and easy way to find all of the information. I hope you guys enjoy!

Some more wedding stuff is happening!

Tonight I ordered my necklace! As you may recall, the back of my dress is very low cut.

At first I wanted some kind of statement necklace, but everything I was really looking at was a bit too distracting with my dress. My next thought was pearls, they are classic, but I didn't want anything too plain or boring. Tonight I found this necklace on etsy and it's perfect!

Because the back of my dress is so low, I'd like to wear some hanging in the back a la Coco Chanel because she is so fab.

On another jewelry note, Ronnie and I went to the jewelers to have my engagement ring inspected and cleaned. While we were waiting we started looking at bands. They were having a big friends and family sale so we picked them up. It was a bit unexpected but we are really happy with our choices:
I've been e-mailing someone back and forth about custom designing our invitations and tonight I talked to her on the phone. I ordered a sample pack of her work this week so it should be here by the time my next work trip is over. She had some AWESOME ideas on the phone so I'm super excited about working with her. I'll post a link to her website as soon as I put down my deposit with her! I've got to get with my mom about a finalized guest list before I figure out how many I need to order.

We booked our honeymoon!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

I'm so excited this week because we booked our honeymoon! We've been talking about doing a Disney cruise for a really long time, and what better time than for our honeymoon? We're doing a 4 night Bahamas cruise that leaves on the 29th of August. I'm a little bummed though because it's so early so I can't do any planning on the website. Ronnie teases me because I really love doing that stuff, he says we are going to have to get married again after getting married because I'm not going to have anything to do otherwise. :D We're thinking about adding on a stay at the Magic Kingdom afterward, but we will probably do that closer to the time that we leave.

In other news, I've started working on our wedding website that will have all the official details. I'll post a link once it has more stuff on it!

Wedding vision?

Trying to come up with a theme has been somewhat stressful for me. I about had a panic attack when I got an e-mail from a vendor saying that they would love to talk to me more about my 'wedding vision.' Although Ronnie and I love each other very much, I think it would be pretty fair to say that most of our major passions are pretty different! We are a pretty good example of left brain/right brain in my opinion. My first thought, considering our venue, was a vintage themed wedding but honestly it was a pretty vague thought and I was having a hard time pulling together ideas. My second thought was a Disney theme. We both love the place, and it would be easy to come up with a cake topper, favors and even some music. I haven't completely given up on this idea, but today I thought of something else:

Tea Party!

Ronnie loves his tea, and I like the idea because it is somewhat Alice in Wonderlandish. Here are some of my inspiration pictures.

Color palate:

Our wedding colors are the blue and the yellow so we could lean pretty heavily on those, but I like the idea of the pastels for some accent colors.

Centerpieces:
I love the layout of this table. (via Brandon Kidd Photography) but we could do fun centerpieces made from teapots instead of vases:

Ebay has some really cheap yet cute teapots, and since we will be inviting a lot of women (lets face it, my mom and dad both have a lot of sisters!) I think it would be pretty easy to get people to take the centerpieces with them.

Favors:

I really would LOVE to do something like this. Tea bags with tea cookies! It's a project from the Martha Stewart website and they have direction for all of it! Sadly we can't have food for favors so this is pretty much so a no go. I guess I could e-mail them and double check but it pretty much so bursts that bubble. Maybe teabags and the recipe...
I did come across a tutorial on hand sewn teabags. That is another idea that could work!

I finished my stockings

I'm happy to report that I've finally finished knitting up my stockings. There was quite a few times when I wanted to tear these things apart and quit working on them, but I finished them a few days ago and I really love them.

The problem is, they don't match my dress. I knew before I bought my wedding dress that I didn't want a stark white dress. I purchased the yarn and started knitting these prior to getting my dress. I ordered my dress in an ivory, but it's so close to a white that I can't really tell the difference. It's hard to tell in the pictures (I'm guessing because of the lighting) but the yarn is a natural color so when I put them on with my dress they look very yellow. Plus my shoes are peep toes and I don't really want to wear stockings with them. I don't think I'll delegate these to the back of the closet just yet though because they are just so pretty, they will just have to be non-wedding stockings.
