More dress shopping

My mother, Sarah and I went dress shopping yesterday and I tried on the 4 dresses I liked the most again to see how I felt the second time. I'm pretty sure I've decided which dress I'm going to get

.
I think that this dress is the most flattering on my figure and that it really fits with the historical setting of Greenfield Village. They only had the champagne color in the store (at least I think, I had a different sales woman this time and I didn't like her as much) but I think I would like mine in a white.

Sarah tried on a few bridesmaid dresses as well when we were there.
This one looked really cute on Sarah so I think this will be the bridesmaids dresses! No luck on the pockets though, so I'm not sure how I'm going to get Sarah to hold all of my goodies. Ha Ha just kidding!

Another thing I've been looking at lately is veils. Now that I'm pretty sure that I will be getting the dress pictured above, I really think I want to get a birdcage veil.

The only thing is I haven't been able to find a fascinator that I really like. Today while browsing etsy, I found some really beautiful combs that I like. They are all from The Honey Comb. Trying to decide which one I like the best is the hardest part!

My first finished wedding craft

I finished my first wedding craft last night! I knitted myself a shawl!

I'll spare the non knitters most of the knitting details, but I will say that it is a silk/wool blend and it's very light and airy.

Craftyness

Started making these little things together for fun today. I have to say gluing cardstock together is a lot harder than I thought it would be, so as I type this I only have the 2 pictured done...

On a happier note, I started working on our save the dates today. Ronnie cut all of the blue cardstock down to size for me and I rounded all the corners and started working on the tiny envelopes that will be glued on them. I found a template online for the little envelopes and I got 25 of them done today. It's really exciting to have so much done for them already! The only downside is my plan for the number cutouts isn't going to work. I have 2 work trips coming up, so when I get home I plan on getting what I need for number cut outs plan b. Wish me luck!

396 days and counting

According to the knot, Ronnie and I have 396 days left until our wedding. I have been feeling pretty accomplished lately. We have our venue and reception place booked, signed a contract and paid a deposit to the photographer, picked our honeymoon spot and I've been getting a lot of ideas for how I would like to make most of our wedding stationary (save the dates, programs, invitations etc) I felt like I was ahead of the game so far, and then today I got our planning timeline and event work sheet in the mail. It's almost insane how much we still have left to do before a year is up, and I'm not just talking about vendor related things. This packet came with questions like "how many toasts will be given at the reception?". I realize I don't have to have most of this information turned in until about a month before the ceremony, but it still felt pretty overwhelming. The ceremony detailer alone was enough to make me put the thing back into the envelope and start browsing the knot for mindless things to look at to distract myself. Now I know why people elope. I think sometime this week I'm going to try to give Ronnie a list of some vendors to contact to at least get some pricing information so we have a little more done.

So what was I browsing on the knot? Flowers!

There aren't very many blue flowers out there, although I have to admit I'm quite partial to hydrangeas. I didn't manage to save any hydrangea bouquet pictures today since my computer was acting up, but I'm sure I will be posting some in the near future.

Something else I came across these while browsing the weddingbee today:

I never was really all the great with origami, but it sure would be fun to be able to make a bunch of these for isle decorations for the ceremony...

Planning updates!

Saturday I went with my mother to try on a LOT of dresses at David's Bridal. Out of the 20 or so I tried on I think I've narrowed it down to 4. I'm going to have to find a time I can drag Sarah out to get her opinion. I'm not positive, but I think this one was my mothers favorite:

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

I really like the back on it, although I'm not too sure how crazy I am about the front of the sash. I think my favorte was still the Oleg Cassini dress, but I still have plenty of time to decide.

We met with our photographer, Amy Boeve, on Saturday, and she was just lovely. We chatted with her for about 45 minutes and we liked her so much that we signed the contract before we left! Her website is here. I highly recommend looking at her blog, lots of pretty pictures there! Now all we have to do with that is set our engagement shoot date which I'm hoping to have set by the end of the month.

Lastly on a planning note, I've been wanting to design our own invitations, and I found a website last night that sells all of the pieces separate so we can design and print them out at home. Cards & Pockets! I've read lots of good reviews about the site, so I'm going to have a go at some designing next month. I'll keep everyone updated on how that goes.

Dress shopping and other plans

Tomorrow morning I'm going dress shopping with my mother. I almost canceled my appointment to wait for Sarah to come home from vacation, but I figured that I will be back a few more times before August of next year so I'll have to drag her along at another time. :)

When you make an account at Davids Bridal and save your favorite dresses online, apparently they can pull them up in the store and have them ready for you. Here are a few of my favorites:

I like the first one the best as far as I can tell on the computer, so it will be intresting to see how I feel once I actually try them on. I do know for sure that I like the mermaid style, that I like lace and I don't want a lot of rhinestones or 'bling' on it.

The other good news is that I'm pretty sure I found a photographer. Ronnie and I will probably be meeting with her this weekend (I just have to confirm through e-mail) and then I will post her website so you guys can check her out. After I've picked a photographer I can relax because I think that's all I will have to get out of the way right away! phew!

On a somewhat unrelated note, I gave my mom the link here so I should say: Hello mom! I love you!

Save the Date

Just got home from the Henry Ford and we have a date! August 21st, 2010. Now I need to get moving on finding a photographer…
