Working out and other news

First things first. I cut off all of my hair last week.

I know most people grow theirs out before getting married, but I just couldn't take it anymore. I couldn't wear it down EVER without having a ton of knots. It will probably grow another 2 inches before the wedding, but I can't begin to mention how much I love it.

Wedding business has been pretty slow around here lately. I went to my first dress fitting last week, and it went pretty well. I go back early next month. I'd like to try to get a picture of the bustle she did for me, because it's really unusual and I think it looks really cool!

I've been attempting to speed up my workout regime lately. I BARELY worked out in April, and I gained 3 pounds. The weather has been pretty great lately here in Michigan, so I've starting to run outside. I know it sound cheesy, but running outside has made a HUGE difference in my workouts. I'm really starting to love running. I can't remember if I've ever mentioned it on here, but my mom has a nice little gym in her basement. A treadmill, trampoline, bike, weights, jump ropes etc, but the problem was I was working out while staring at the clock. I love the scenery outside while running, plus since it's still pretty cool I haven't been dripping sweat!

I did find 2 things for my iPhone that have really been awesome that I thought I would share:

Couch to 5k : This is a podcast you can get for free at the link I posted or on iTunes. I'm obviously doing week 2 this week :D It tells you when to run, and when to walk. Eventually it will train you to do 3 miles in 30 minutes. Also it plays music in the background so you don't have to worry about making a playlist. It's been great so far, but tough!

RunKeeper: Okay, this one cost me 10 bucks, but it is also GREAT! Not only does use GPS to give you a map of where you've run, but it keeps track of your times and pace of each workout. I think my favorite thing about it though, is it will give you an audio update of your progress while running. So while I'm listening to my couch to 5k, I don't have to stop and get any idea of my progress, every 5 minutes it lets me know! If you have a phone that is able to use this app, I can't recommend this enough!

A Model Vacation

Disney posted this on their blog yesterday. I LOVE their tilt shift videos, so I was so excited to see one for the cruise. To say I'm ready for our honeymoon/vacation is an understatement!

Rehearsal Dinner Site

Today Ronnie and I packed a picnic to go and eat at Elizabeth Park at the site of our rehearsal dinner. It was pretty cold so we didn't stay very long but I did get a few pictures! We saw 3 Blue Jays and a Cardinal while we were out there too, but some squirrels came and scared them away before I could get some pictures of them. Oh well there is always next time!

Ronnie eating lunch at one of the picnic tables. You can see the comfort station in the background.

There are 3 of these little picnic areas at our site. There is 4 or 5 picnic tables, one garbage can and a grill in each area.

Here is a picture of part of the area. I wish the trees didn't look so desolate, but by spring/summer they will be nice and pretty.

Here is the comfort station that I mentioned with the first picture. Comfort station is a nice way of saying 'bathrooms.' Ronnie and I checked out the inside of them on our last visit. They aren't too bad.

While I'm on the subject of the rehearsal dinner, I should talk about invitations! I saw these kite invitations on one of the wedding blogs I follow. I think they are SO cute, and would have loved to do something similar, but since we are going to be inviting so many people, it's probably not going to be the most thrifty idea. Also, the area we are in has a lot of trees so flying a kite probably won't even be possible. I have another idea for making something, so I'll post them after they're finished and mailed out!

Food Tasting!!!

Today Ronnie, my mother and I went to our food tasting at the Henry Ford! This is one of the only things that Ronnie was SUPER excited about. It was mostly for picking out the main entree, but we also tasted the salads and the hors d'oeuvers. Of course I took a bunch of pictures so I thought I would share with everyone.

Ronnie, inside of Lovett Hall.

The hors d'oeuvers. Tomato basil bruschetta. Curry charred scallops with citrus honey glaze and sweet potato puree. Barbecued pork and smoked Gouda sliders.

Ronnie sampling a scallop.

Ronnie enjoying a salad with a garden salad in the foreground.

The other 2 salad choices. On the left is a spinach and mango salad with candied walnuts and a raspberry dressing and on the right is the caesar salad.

Stuffed Chicken breast: Sun-Dried tomato, spinach and boursin with roasted
tomato basil coulis

Filet and Chicken: Basil Parmesan-crusted chicken, tomato artichoke ragout and petite filet

So which salad and entree did we pick? For the salad we picked the spinach and mango one. The dressing was SO good, and don't even get me started on the candied walnuts. For the entree, Ronnie and my mom both LOVED the filet and chicken. Ronnie said the chicken breast was a little bland after tasting the other food. So for right now it looks like the main course will be pretty similar to the last picture but with broccoli instead of the asparagus. My favorite thing about the food? In the last picture, on the top left there are some white almost tofu looking things? They are actually a cheese potato. Emily called them 'fancy scalloped potatoes.' They were DELICIOUS! Speaking of Emily, she was just as nice in person as her emails and phone calls. She was just lovely!

As a small aside, I've been trying to keep up with the Disney Wedding blog. I've been reading it since Carly was planning her own wedding, and lately she has been spotlighting a lot of things from Disney Weddings at the Tokyo park. I just came across one today I thought would be fun to share.
