DINO PAN!

Today I got a chance to use some more shower gifts! I used our hand mixer, our dino pan and the mini muffin pan to make corn bread. As you can see, I grossly overfilled the dino pan and took a bite before I took a picture :). I need to get myself a mixing bowl that can pour because I had no control of how much mix was making its way into the pans. I just pulled the last round out of the oven, and Ronnie has eaten almost all of the mini muffins. He's a huge cornbread fan. If you're wondering, I used this (Disney!) recipe. Now I just need it to be Sarah's birthday so I can make her mini/dino cupcakes.

Today I borrowed my moms bike and took a 10 mile bike ride for exercise. I have to say it's my new favorite way to burn calories. I went down to Elizabeth Park (where our rehearsal BBQ will be) and zipped back up and around Riverview. Now I just need a basket for Pepito so we can go together. James already nixed the tandem bicycle, so dog basket it is.

I'm guessing that a lot of people are getting their invitations in the mail because we've already received 4 R.S.V.P. cards so if by chance you've made your way here from our wedding website, welcome! I hope you enjoy reading our plans. I promise Tuesdays post talking about hormones was a rare one :D

Less than 2 months out

I meant to make a post 2 days ago because it was 2 months away from our wedding, but we've just been so busy that I haven't had the time!

Monday afternoon Ronnie and I headed up to the post office to mail out our invitations. When I mailed out the 3 invites for our parents and Ronnie's sister, I had asked to have them hand canceled. What is hand canceling? You can read about it here. When I asked, the lady working she said "They still have to go through the computer." I didn't really want to cause a fuss over something so small so I just said "oh, okay." and we left assuming that they were just going to be sent the regular ole' way. When I went over to my moms a few days later to look at hers I was pleased to see that they had hand canceled for me. Which brings me to Monday. I finally got a hold of the last address I needed, and got a refill for my calligraphy pen so I finished off the last invite. At this point, I thought maybe I was being a little too weird worrying about the envelopes, but when I asked Ronnie what he thought, he agreed that it looked nicer and said it wouldn't hurt to ask. Of course, it was the same lady as last time and it was slammed in there so I thought the lady would tell me to buzz off considering I had 50+ invites, but actually she was very nice and said they couldn't do it right away, but someone would do it as soon as possible. When I called my mom today, she said that Aunt Thelma got hers Tuesday morning so I'm hoping everyone else will get theirs soon.

I've been meaning to make a post about my weight loss and how it was going, but it wasn't going so great so I didn't get around to it. When I went for my last dress fitting, my dress that previously fit perfectly was snug and I was pretty devastated because I had been working so hard with the running. I think I had lost maybe 4 pounds, but the doctor put me on hormones for my dysmenorrhea (I'll bet you weren't coming here today expecting to read about THAT! haha) which is what I'm assuming made me gain probably 8 or 9 pounds. I hadn't been previously dieting, I was eating whatever I wanted to but running 5 days a week. I took myself off the hormones, the doctor prescribed me some pain meds and about 3 weeks ago I started using Lose it! to count calories. To lose 1 pound a week it's given me a budget of about 1,400 calories a day. At first I thought it was going to be really hard, but I've found that eating at home gives me A LOT of room to play with. On Sunday I was down 7 pounds from January and I'd like to lose about 5 more. I think that's manageable in a little less than 2 months.

Now for a few small things:

Aunti Kay and the Crisi crew got us one of the personalized plates I really wanted from Greenfield Village! We are on the hunt for a plate hanger that will hold something in it's size so we can hang it up.

Next week we're going with my mom and Kevin to get fitted for his tux. Ronnie Sr. went last week and my dad will go... I'm not sure! Sometime before the wedding haha!

Ronnie and I were looking through our wedding scrapbook and he accidentally saw a picture of me in my dress while browsing. It was just the back, and I tried to turn the page really quick, but he was REALLY excited about it and wanted to see the whole thing. I told him no :)

Happy Fathers Day!

I just finished uploading the pictures from our shower to my photobucket account, but before I post them I wanted to say happy fathers day to all of the dads out there, especially to my dad, my future father-in-law, my grandpa, my brother and my future brother-in-law! I hope you guys had a fabulous day!

My bridal shower was on Saturday. We ended up having a pretty hectic morning at our apartment, because Ronnie got a flat on his way home from work. I went to go and pick him up, and then took him up to Belle Tire for some new tires but I still made it home in time to get ready and make it up to Savannah's in time! It was a really nice time catching up with family and eating lunch. Their salad was SO YUMMY! It took me a long time to open up gifts, because everyone was so incredibly generous and I can't thank you guys enough. I got Sarah (my maid of honor) to take pictures for me so if you want to see them they are here.

As you can see in the pictures, I was super excited about the vacuum cleaner. When I got home yesterday it took us a few hours to put everything away and get rid of all of our old stuff. Once we got everything cleaned and put away, I vacuumed and then I made salsa in our food processor then put it in our new chip & dip holder and then Sarah and James came over and we played scattergories! This morning Ronnie made us some fresh orange juice in our juicer and we had some toast from the new toaster. Tomorrow I'm going to make some corn bread muffins in my Dino pan! I can't wait!

On an unrelated note, I took these pictures awhile ago and forgot to post them. They were from the Civil War remembrance weekend which also fell on the date that we were engaged last year! I didn't take very many, because it was on Saturday that we went and it ran through Monday and I thought we would be back. As it turns out, it rained the rest of the weekend and we didn't make it!

From the fashion show. Doesn't she look thrilled that I'm taking her picture? haha.

I think this was the unions camp.

A new layout

Well, I finally got around to personalizing our blog. I've been thinking about doing it since I started the blog, but I just haven't had the time. I finished up the image this morning and used one of bloggers new templates to polish everything up. What do you guys think?

As expected, our invitations arrived last week! Here is a little sneek peek:

Okay, not such a good sneek peek, but I still want you guys to be excited when you get them! I've been doing some work on them I'm almost done! Here's what I added to them:

  • Calligraphy - I didn't end up making a lightbox, I just used the glass from a picture frame and placed it over a lamp. The only problem with doing this, was that I had to stand up while writing on on the envelopes. Thank God I didn't have to address hundreds of them!
  • Envelope liners - I bought a roll of blue wrapping paper, and used these directions to make liners for them. I used the left over wrapping paper to make belly bands.
  • Belly Bands - I made ours somewhat similar to these, but since we aren't using an inner envelope I wrote our guests names on the band. I think they came out looking great!
  • Website cards - You guys may remember the map I posted in my last entry. It took me about 2 days and I finished it up, printed it out annnnd it looked really pixelated. No matter what I did, I couldn't get it to print looking nice. I really couldn't talk myself into making a new one, so I made website cards and I think I'll post the map on our website.
When I look it over, it doesn't seem like it's very much, but it was a lot of work! Ronnie helped with a lot of cutting and gluing and I'm ALMOST finished up. I still need addresses for a few people, and another sheet of stamps but that's pretty much so it! It took me A LOT less time than I thought it would. Yesterday we mailed out the invitations to our parents and one to Ronnie's sisters family just to make sure everything gets there safely. When I was google-ing calligraphy I came across a bunch of postage horror stories so I figured it's better to be safe than sorry especially since we have so many to mail.

That's really all that's going on this week, Saturday is our wedding shower and I'm going to bring my camera and try to round someone up to take pictures for me so I can post them here for you guys who can't make it to see.

More Projects!

Now that we're less than 75 days out, lots of little projects are coming up. Today Ronnie's grooms men gifts came in so I got to be the lucky one to wrap them up. I spent way more time playing with bows then I wanted to do before finally settling on these. Ronnie kept saying "Sara, they're for men..." but I'm pleased with how they came out. Now I just need to figure out how I'm going to package up my bridesmaids gifts.

Our invitations were shipped to our place today! I wanted to have the map finished before I received them, but then I realized I don't know what size the invitations or rsvp cards are printed in and I want them to match them so I probably won't finish editing it until I receive them. I MIGHT try to make envelope liners and bellybands myself, however I may be overreaching with my with crafting mojo. I may have to make a craft date with my mom or Sarah and Amy to help me cut everything (I also got my table numbers and escort cards which will ALSO need to be cut) because there is only so much I can do by myself.

Aside from putting the ribbon on Ronnie's gift boxes, today's other project has been working on the text for our ceremony programs. I haven't really given too much thought to music the ceremony will actually use and I've been kind of stressing about it! Hopefully I will have it all done tomorrow and then it will be off to Megan for design!

This will probably be my next knitting project, however mine will be all white and I'm going to try to make a red heart button out of clay to match my shoes. Phew so much to do still!!

Map in progress!

In a little more than a week we should be getting our invitations to mail out. There are 2 projects that I have in mind to add to them.

#1 A Map
I think that everyone will have a pretty easy time finding The Henry Ford, but since the wedding is after the museum is closed, everyone will be parking in the back lot, which isn't too hard to find if you've gone quite a few times, but it can be a little confusing if you've never gone. Emily sent me a map of the campus, so all day today I've been working on editing it. Here is what I've got done so far:
As you can see the time line at the top needs to be finished, and I want to add some other small touches to wrap them in with the design of our invitations. This would be the front of the map card, and then on the back I'm planning on adding text directions. What do you guys think about the time line? I saw it on a custom map on etsy and thought it looked cute, but now when I'm looking at it I'm not so sure.

#2 Lightbox
You may remember a post from a while back where I said that I was working on calligraphy. I have to be honest and say I haven't been practicing. AT ALL. I really still want a calligraphy look and I had a few ideas of how to go about it. I was going to send the envelopes through our printer, printing in a script font in a color very close to the envelopes so I could write them in pen, but the more I thought about it the more I worried about it. The envelopes will probably be a little larger than normal size, and I don't think I'll have a template in word that will print how I'd like them to. I didn't order a huge amount of extra envelopes so I wouldn't be able to afford to make very many mistakes. That brings me to what I think I'm going to do! I'm going to try to make myself a little light box, probably using these directions here. Then I'll print out everyone address and use the light box to write it on the envelopes!

I'll probably use this font, it's very pretty don't you think?
