Houston we have a location!

Martha-Mary Chapel, Greenfield Village

(I did not take this picture. It came from sjb4photos photostream on flickr. Click the picture to see it and more!)

After quite a bit of stress, we have finally picked our wedding and reception spot! Our ceremony will be held in the Martha-Mary chapel, and our reception will be at the Taste of History in Greenfield Village! My mother, Ronnie and I did a site tour on Saturday and loved absolutely everything we saw.

I've sent out an e-mail to the sales manager, so as soon as I hear back from her and we put down a deposit I will announce the date!

Speaking of the date, I've been trying to decide what kind of save the dates I would like to make. I saw these cute ones on the Martha Stewart wedding website but wanted to do something more than just a little card.

I found these browsing around on wedding bee and think they're the cutest things ever. Now if I can only figure out how to cut 100 or so sets of those numbers without a Cricut...

Location, Location, Location

Ronnie and I had our first official meeting for something wedding related on the 22nd. We met with one of the ladies with The Little Wedding Chapel in Taylor at Heritage Park. When my older brother got married we actually drove here from his church to have pictures. I had never seen the inside before so I was really looking forward to the meeting.

The good:
The inside was really cute, and I loved the stained glass windows. The price (which was really good!) included a minister, a coordinator, a pianist and the flowers that were already in there. She said also we could bring in our own decorations if we wanted to. And of course Heritage Park is gorgeous, we wouldn't have any need to go anywhere else for pictures.

The bad:
The website says that the chapel can accommodate 140 people but I think that's being a bit of a stretch. We're expecting about 85 to 100 guests and even that looked like it might be a little bit tight. The rooms for getting ready were very, very, very small. I think 3 people at the most would fit in there. My wedding party will probably be pretty small but there is just no way getting ready would happen in that room. This was probably my biggest turn off about the place. I thought about maybe getting a hotel room wherever we had the reception and getting ready in there but I wasn't too crazy about that idea either. The last thing that bugged me was that the lady who came to show us the place was about 45 minutes late. Our appointment was at 4 and she called me at 3:56 to tell me she was going to be about 20 minutes late because their office was having the roof done. When she did get there she was very nice and informative, but she had another couple there with her and she seemed a little preoccupied with them since they were going to put down a deposit.

Needless to say when I left there I was a little disappointed. I honestly thought we would probably put down our deposit and have one less thing to worry about. It's still an option I guess, but I'd really like to find something else at this point. We have a meeting with someone at Greenfield Village on Saturday so keep your fingers crossed that everything will go okay there.

The other thing I've been working on is finding a photographer. I have to be honest, I had a bit of sticker shock when I saw how much photographers costs. I think Ronnie seriously had a coronary when I told him how much the one I had been researching charged. I was really thinking I would pay the costs and get over it, but most of the ones I really like don't give you copyrights to the images they shoot so you can't print anything out for family members. I spent sometime on craigslist last night looking at photographers with ads there and I found one that charges about $850 and give you the copyrights since they are trying to get a bigger portfolio.

Something blue

I really really really love the Louboutins. The Manolo's are the ones that Carrie wears in the Sex in the City movie which is where I got the idea of wearing blue shoes. It must be a some what popular trend as I noticed that Natasha Henderson had a blue pair on for her In Style Weddings magazine shoot.

I like the white version of the Louboutins too, but with an almost $900 dollar price tag, I'd have to be saving up some SERIOUS cash. I found some cute shoes that are similar, but I really don't like them as much:

I'm not completely sure if I want to wear dark blue shoes if we do decide to keep our wedding colors at a light blue and yellow. Plus, 4 inch heels? I suppose I have plenty of time to mull it over.

In a some what unrelated note, J.Crew actually has really cute bridesmaid dresses!

Their prices are pretty outrageous for something that will probably only be worn one night, and it's only online shopping which is very annoying!

As far as MY dress goes, I haven't really done a whole hell of a lot of looking. I know I still have a lot of time before I have to decide. I love almost every Claire Pettibone gown, but there isn't anywhere in Michigan where you can get them. It would also be another one of those items where I would be saving for a few years before being able to purchase. A girl can dream though. :D

Printed Bridesmaid Dresses?

I think they are modern and kind of cute but I don't think Ronnie is a huge fan.

Books Galore!

I'm willing to admit it, I love planning stuff. I hate calling and talking to people, but I love looking things up and writing things down.

Sarah got me the engagement book, I've been working on filling it out. Thank you Sarah!

I wish I could afford a photobooth for the wedding reception, because it sure would be fun.

First post

I'm not sure how diligent I will be with posting here, all of my past blogs haven't been getting much love lately but I really wanted to have a place to post my wedding plans.

I really don't have very much planned, after all I've only been engaged for 4 days but I thought I might give myself a place to put down my ideas. Plus my grandmother specifically requested it. That's my story and I'm sticking too it.

I thought I would start this blog off with posting our 'engagement honeymoon' pictures. Ronnie and I went camping the day after he proposed. We had a pretty good time even though I passed out around 10 p.m. and it ended up being really cold that night. Here is too many more trips in the future!
